Day 3

James, the other newbie, and I were up early Wednesday morning to be trained to ride ATVs. James had already ridden an ATV before; my only experience “off-roading” was that pathetic section of the Autopia ride at Disneyland that is, essentially, a dirt path with some pebbles on it. The refuge manager who was training us set up various obstacle courses of tiny traffic cones (only a couple of which I ran over!) ATV riding is actually pretty fun. Who knew? (Besides all those teenagers in the Midwest).

So cool.
