Display (n.)
The method by which male condors court females. The male's head flushes red, his feathers puff up, and he holds out his wings with a slight bend at the elbow joint. He then proceeds to 'dance' from side to side, sometimes turning in a full circle around the female. This display can last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. If a female is receptive to his advances, she might preen the male, and if the courtship is successful, then she will assume a mating position. If a female rejects the male's display, she might nip at him, or simply fly away.
