Giant wolf spider (Hogna carolinensis)
I found this guy on the road near the feeding site. He was crouched low down in a hole in the ground, but I was able to lure him out with a long stalk of grass. We played this game of spider peek-a-boo for quite a while, actually. And yes, I did talk to it the way you would a dog, why do you ask?
